Three very positive news
- Ireland will plant around 2 Crore 20 Lakh plants every year. They hope that they will reach 44 Crore plants across country by the year 2040 to combat Climate Change.
- China has reportedly reassigned over 60,000 soldiers to plant trees in a bid to combat pollution by increasing the country's forest coverage. It will be started from Hebei province, which encircles Beijing. The area is known to be a major culprit for producing the notorious smog which blankets the capital city.
- Sadhguru and the Isha Foundation by their campaign Cauvery Calling will support farmers to plant 242 crore trees in Cauvery basin by adopting agroforestry. Improving soil health, Reviving the river and groundwater levels, increase farmers’ incomes 300-800% in 5-7 years.
India can involve Private companies in growing forests. We give hundreds of acres of land to Private companies/ Educational Trusts/ NGOs at very cheap rates. Why don’t we put a clause to grow Very Dense Forest (means more than 75% plants coverage) in 10% of area allotted to them and responsibility of maintaining the forest will be on that company/ trust/ NGO. It will certainly help !!!
